Strawberry Chia Granola Oats (Printable Version)

Creamy oats mixed with strawberries, chia seeds, and granola for a wholesome morning meal.

# What You Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup rolled oats
02 - 1 cup milk, dairy or plant-based
03 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or plant-based yogurt
04 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
05 - 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Fruit

07 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

→ Toppings

08 - 1/2 cup granola
09 - Additional sliced strawberries for garnish, optional

# Directions:

01 - In a medium bowl or mason jar, combine rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
02 - Gently fold the sliced strawberries into the oat mixture, distributing them evenly throughout.
03 - Cover the bowl or jar and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight, allowing the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid and reach desired consistency.
04 - In the morning, stir the overnight oats thoroughly. If the mixture appears too thick, add a splash of milk to reach preferred texture.
05 - Divide the overnight oats evenly between two bowls or serving jars.
06 - Top each serving with granola and additional sliced strawberries if desired. Serve immediately.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • You literally sleep through the hardest part, waking up to a breakfast that's already cool, creamy, and ready to eat.
  • It tastes like dessert but actually makes you feel strong and sustained all morning.
  • One batch feeds two people or gives you breakfast waiting for you two mornings in a row.
02 -
  • Add the granola last, right before eating—I learned this the hard way when I stirred it in the night before and ended up with soggy, sad granola instead of the glorious crunch I was counting on.
  • Don't skip the chia seeds even if they seem weird; they're what gives this the silky texture that makes it feel like a treat instead of just oats in milk.
03 -
  • The ratio of oats to liquid is about one to one, but trust your instincts—some people like it thicker, some prefer it looser, and there's no wrong answer here.
  • If you're using unsweetened yogurt and unsweetened milk, taste your mixture before bed and adjust the honey or maple syrup then, so you're not doing math in the morning when your eyes are barely open.
